Day Care/Early Learning Center Director

The Sac and Fox Nation of Missouri in Kansas and Nebraska has an immediate opening for a full time Day Care/Early Learning Center Director. The Center Director is responsible for the overall management, daily operations, licensing compliance, staff supervision, and quality of care at the Sac & Fox Nation Early Learning Center. The Center Director ensures the center operates in alignment with Sac & Fox Nation policies and procedures, applicable Kansas child care licensing requirements, Tribal requirements, federal program standards, and any applicable accreditation or quality standards. The Center Director provides leadership to teaching, support, administrative, and food service staff; supports a safe, nurturing, culturally responsive, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for children; maintains positive relationships with families; and ensures effective communication between the center, Tribal Council, families, staff, and community partners. This position involves the startup of a new Day Care Center with initial tasks to include recruiting/enrollment, being the lead on hiring other Center staff. The Center Director reports to the Executive Director and supervises assigned Day Care/Early Learning Center staff. Salary: Contingent upon Education & Experience.
Tentative work schedule being considered: For the first 3 months (November, December, January) - during the hiring/ramp-up period) working four tens = Monday -Thursday - 7:30 to 5:30 in Reserve, Kansas. When a full complement of staffing has been trained, then shifting to working 4 ten hour days via a partnered schedule, teamed with a Family Engagement/Assistant Director/ Administrative Assistant working 4 tens, (with one covering Monday and one covering Friday).
Qualification’s: Education/Certifications:
1. Must meet Kansas child care center program director qualifications based on the center’s licensed capacity and applicable Tribal licensing requirements.
2. Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a closely related field preferred. An associate degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field with qualifying experience may be considered if the applicant meets Kansas program director requirements.
3. Must be willing to complete additional education, professional development, and training in early childhood education, child care administration, supervision, and program management.
4. Must complete all required orientation, health and safety, and annual training hours required by Sac & Fox Nation policy, and applicable program standards.
5. Must maintain current CPR and First Aid certification as required.
6. Must meet health requirements, including current TB testing or health documentation as required by licensing or program policy.
7. Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable.
8. Must successfully complete all required background checks, fingerprinting, drug testing, and child abuse/neglect registry checks in accordance with federal, state, Tribal, and program requirements. Comprehensive background checks are required for individuals working or regularly volunteering in licensed child care facilities.
Qualification’s: Experience:
1. Experience working in an early childhood setting required.
2. Experience supervising staff, managing program operations, and supporting compliance preferred.
3. Experience with infant and toddler programming preferred.
4. Experience managing budgets, purchasing, records, staffing schedules, family communication, or child care administration preferred.
5. Experience working with Tribal communities, Native families, or culturally responsive programming preferred.

Gaming Commissioner - Sac and Fox Nation - Full Time Position

The Sac and Fox Nation has an opening for a full time Tribal Gaming Commissioner located at 1324 US Hwy 75 Powhattan, KS. 66527. Starting pay is $19.00 per hour, working 4 days (8:00-4:30) 32 hours per week, with an attractive benefits package.

Gaming Commissioners are responsible for ensuring the tribal gaming operation is in compliance with the Tribal Gaming Ordinance, gaming regulations, applicable federal and state regulations. Further, they have primary responsibility for enforcing tribal law with respect to each tribal gaming activity or operations conducted on the reservation pursuant to the gaming compact, including regulation of any management contractors, manufacturer/distributors and all gaming employees. The Tribal Gaming Commission shall also receive consumer complaints within the gaming facility and shall assist in seeking voluntary resolution of such complaints.

This position requires a high school diploma or GED certificate. The appointed Gaming Commissioner must also qualify for a Category 1 gaming license. Preferred qualifications include 3 years previous Indian gaming experience. Indian preference does apply.

Housing Authority Executive Director

The Sac and Fox Nation Housing Authority has an immediate opening for a full time Executive Director position (working four 10 hour days Monday – Thursday) with attractive benefits package offered. This position, officed in Reserve, KS will be responsible for overseeing: the day to day operations of the Housing Authority properties, and the procurement of financial assistance from Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and assures that this assistance is made available to Sac and Fox Nation housing projects and low income and elderly single family dwellings.
This supervisory position will work at the direction of the Housing Authority Board to direct a team of 2 to 3 others. The ideal candidate will have: #1) a strong understanding of housing compliance paperwork or an aptitude for working with federal agency compliance requirements; #2) Bachelor’s degree; #3) three (3) to five (5) years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have a valid driver’s license. Native American preference does apply.
Salary Range = $42,000 to $55,000 with additional consideration given for current HUD Housing experience and a working knowledge of principles and practices of project/program administration and financial management; ability to create, read, and amend budgets; ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with the general public, staff and officials, and outside agency personnel; proficient in computer use to include word processing and collecting/managing data using spreadsheets and databases.

Patrol Officer

The Sac and Fox Nation Police Department has an immediate full time opening for a Police Patrol Officer. Full-Time Hourly. Depending on funding availability. Non-certified $16, Certified $16.39
POSITION IS: Non-Supervisory
POSITION REPORTS TO: Chief of Police, Sergeant
POSITION OF WORK: This position is officed out of Reserve, Kansas and is located in the Sac and Fox Police Department and performs duties in the protection of life and property and the preservation of order on tribal land.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- This position requires the employee to be 21 years of age, have a high school diploma or GED certification with the employee being expected to have acquired the necessary information and skills to perform the job within six months in the position or be terminated. Must attend and pass extensive police academy training within one year.
- Must not have been convicted, and not have an expunged conviction, by any state or the federal government or a crime which is a felony or its equivalent under the uniform code of military justice.
- Must be able to pass a background check, physical and complete a psychological examination.
- Must be able to work under adverse working condition relating to public law enforcement. Hazardous and dangerous situations may arise in the apprehension of alleged criminals.
- Must be available for any and all hour/days and be available to rotate shifts if necessary.
- Must have the ability to operate communications equipment, computers, weapons, radar unit, patrol vehicle and related law enforcement equipment.
- Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Must live in Richardson County Nebraska or Brown County Kansas.
- Must have a valid state driver’s license and a good driving history.

Truck Stop & Trad'n Post Cashier

The Sac and Fox Nation has openings for several part time Truck Stop/Trad’n Post Cashiers with cash handling/customer service experience preferred. 3 part time positions are available at the Truck Stop in Powhattan located at 1324 US Hwy. 75 and 1 (one) part time position at the Trad’n Post in Reserve, KS. This position is responsible for performing cashiering transactions accurately with customer service as a focus, as well as maintaining till accuracy. Candidate should have the ability to learn how to accurately complete end of shift reports, stock shelves, clean floors, bathrooms and showers and maintain a clean beverage/snack area. Must be able to work days, nights and weekends. Must have a valid driver’s license. This position requires being able to lift thirty (30) pounds. Mathematical aptitude is a must. Native American preference is given. Tentative pay range of $7.75-$10 per hour depending on qualifications. These positions have no benefits.
